Thanksgiving in Times of Waiting | Your Nightly Prayer

Father, As I wait, remind me that Your delays do not mean You have forgotten me. Help me to trust that Your timing is perfect and Your plans are good. When I grow weary, renew my strength with thanksgiving — for the ways You’ve already come through and the ways You are working right now. Let gratitude anchor my heart and keep me faithful in prayer until Your promises are fulfilled. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

A Prayer for Christian Community | Your Daily Prayer

God never intended for us to do life alone. As our daily prayer and reflection remind us, from the beginning of creation, He designed us for community — with Him and with one another. Yet, for many believers, being part of a church family isn’t always easy. Differences in opinion, leadership conflicts, or even personal wounds can cause deep pain within the very place meant to nurture our faith. In this compassionate reflection, Laura Bailey reminds us that while church hurt is real and painful, Christian community is still God’s plan for His people. Just as Adam was not meant to be alone, neither are we. Throughout Scripture, we see how God uses relationships — even messy ones — to shape us, refine us, and reveal His grace. From the early church in Acts to the disciples who followed Jesus, believers have always grown stronger in community. Though it can be hard to stay when relationships feel strained, the call of Christ is not to walk away but to lean in — to forgive, to reconcile, and to remain united under His love. Today's Bible Reading: “The Lord God said, ‘It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.’” – Genesis 2:18, NIV 💡 Takeaway Truths God created us for community — with Him and with one another. Church relationships may be imperfect, but they’re essential for spiritual growth. Staying rooted in Christian community helps us live out love, forgiveness, and unity. 🙏 Let’s Pray Heavenly Father, Thank You for creating us to live in community. When we’re hurt by others in the church, give us the strength to forgive and the courage to stay connected. Heal the wounds caused by division and restore unity among Your people. Help us to love one another as You have loved us. When we feel tempted to withdraw, remind us that Your design for the body of Christ is togetherness, not isolation. Let the fruits of the Spirit — love, patience, gentleness, and self-control — shine through our relationships. We pray for reconciliation, grace, and renewed hope within Your Church. Thank You for being the foundation that holds us all together. In Jesus’ name, Amen. 📖 Related Scriptures John 17:21 — “That all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you.” Romans 12:18 — “If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.” Acts 2:42–47 — “They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship…”

Comedy Icon Carol Burnett Says She’s Got Serious Wordle Skills

Comedy icon Carol Burnett says she’s got some serious Wordle skills. She shared how she has easily solved a number of the word puzzles while playing the popular game. Watch the short clip to hear Carol talk about her jaw-dropping talent and skill when it comes to Wordle.

Most people are incredibly familiar with Carol Burnett. She has entertained audiences for decades, using her trademark sense of humor and quick wit to send millions into hysterics. The Carol Burnett Show is a program that continues to elicit laughter from many due to its numerous classic and zany skits all these years later. If there ever were to be a Mt. Rushmore for comedy, Carol Burnett’s face would most certainly be included.

Carol is, of course, a comedy legend, well known for her comedic skills and timing, but sending people into uncontrollable bouts of laughter is not all that she can do. She has some awe-inspiring skills when it comes to the popular mobile game Wordle. In a clip posted on YouTube, Carol told Jimmy Kimmel that she has solved several Wordle puzzles on the first attempt.

“How often have you achieved the Wordle in one try?” Jimmy asked Carol.

“Seven,” Carol responded, much to the astonishment of Jimmy and the studio audience.

To make Carol’s feat even more impressive, she remembered every single word that she guessed correctly on the first attempt.

“The first one was audio, bacon, clown, crown, stash, talon and towel,” she added.

Even in her 90s, the Hollywood legend appears to be as sharp as ever. She is able to accomplish things at an advanced age that likely many people much younger than her are not doing. I know when I played Wordle, I never guessed the word correctly on the first attempt, and she has done it multiple times.

This Emotional Christmas Ad Will Have You Reaching for the Tissues

This emotional Christmas ad will have you reaching for the tissues. For most people, it will be nearly impossible for them not to have some kind of emotional reaction upon viewing this touching and beautiful commercial. Watch the short but heartwarming clip to see one of the most moving ads you’ve ever seen.

Video is a visual medium, and so because of that, it’s always better to use images than a lot of words. It’s always better to show and not tell whenever possible. Why? Well, as the popular saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words. Yes, the written word is important and can and does have a powerful impact in our world; images are even stronger and often have a greater effect on us.

Another adage that applies in this situation is “seeing is believing.” People may doubt and question what you say, but they will have a much harder time raising those same questions and doubts if they can see it for themselves. Actions speak louder than words – see, we have a ton of sayings that essentially mean the same thing in this situation. Show instead of tell whenever it is possible, and that is precisely what one powerful Christmas ad did.

In the clip posted on YouTube, there are perhaps two or three words spoken throughout the entire three-minute clip, but the images and the story they tell are more than enough to bring even the most stoic and unemotional person to tears.

The clip features an elderly gentleman who is awakened by one of the most annoying, dreaded sounds and devices in the world: the alarm clock. Once he gets up, he springs out of bed and heads down to his garage, where he starts lifting weights. At first, he struggles mightily, unable to raise more than a few inches off the ground.

However, slowly but surely, he builds up his strength even when his neighbor continually turns her noise up at the older man’s efforts. This goes on even though we are left in the dark as to why he is doing this. It’s not until the very end that we learn why he’s been putting in all of this work and effort, and it’s absolutely beautiful!

Proverbs 20:29 “The glory of young men is their strength, and the honor of old men is their grey hairs.”

You’ll Be in Tears Watching These Brothers Receive an Unbelievable Christmas Surprise

You’ll be in tears watching these brothers receive an unbelievable Christmas surprise. Secret Santa decided these two young men deserved a beautiful, life-changing gift. Watch this short and powerful clip to see the moment when these two brothers received a gift that will change both of their lives.

Christmas is the season to lend a hand and help those who may be struggling and in need without any prompting. That is one of the many reasons why so many people consider Christmas to be the best time of the entire year. People give to others out of the kindness and love in their hearts, doing so without expecting anything in return. What could be more beautiful and heartwarming than that?

Now, many people will often ask where and who they can help. I understand that people want direction in these instances, but there is need that is literally all around us. This world is broken and lost, with people hurting and struggling everywhere. It could be a neighbor, a coworker, a friend or even a family member who is in need and struggling in silence.

In a clip posted on YouTube, Secret Santa visited two young men, brothers who, due to their ailments and physical disabilities, rely on one another. If they didn’t have one another, their lives would likely be increasingly more challenging than it is already. One of the brothers, as mentioned in the video, is paralyzed from the waist down and requires the use of a wheelchair. To get into a vehicle, it takes his brother to physically lift him, while he is in his chair, and place him in the automobile.

This is undoubtedly a struggle, but they have both come to accept it as a way of life, something they must do. Secret Santa surprised them with a way to change all of that.

They were both clearly touched and moved by the unexpected gift, and even proceeded to tell the Secret Santa, whoever it may be, that they are welcome at their house at any time. Whatever they have, they are willing to share with the one who showed them love.

Ephesians 4:32 “And be kind to one another, full of pity, having forgiveness for one another, even as God in Christ had forgiveness for you.”

Where was Jesus Born?

All around the world we celebrate the birth of Jesus on December 25th, Christmas Day. The birthplace of Jesus is Bethlehem in Judea. But what do we really know about this town and location? Quick Facts Bethlehem is 10 kilometers south of Jerusalem in Judea, a mountainous region iin the southeast corner of Palestine Mary and Joseph arrived in Bethlehem where the inns were full and they were given option to stay in a stable, where Jesus was born Bethlehem was the hometown of King David and the Old Testament prophecy states that the Messiah will be born "in the city of David" The first church built in Bethlehem was the Church of the Nativity, constructed in AD 327 during the reign of Emperor Constantine the Great. What the Bible Says About Bethlehem, Where Jesus Was Born The question of where Jesus was born is often answered with a city – Bethlehem. We know this from Biblical prophesies and narrative accounts like in Luke 2:4 and Matthew 2:1. But Bible scholars are less sure about specific details involving the setting. Again, we know from Luke’s gospel that Jesus was not born in an inn because there wasn’t room for his parents (Luke 2:7). Let's take a look at some key Scriptures that unfold the importance and details of Jesus' birth in Bethlehem. A Grateful Response to God’s Mercy | Your Nightly Prayer

Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your mercy that renews with each morning. You see all things and know all things, yet You call me beloved and holy. Because of Your compassion, I offer myself to You — every thought, action, and desire. Let my life be a living sacrifice of gratitude and worship. Teach me to surrender daily, trusting that You are worthy of my all. In Jesus’ name, Amen. When Paul urges believers to “offer your bodies as a living sacrifice,” he isn’t just talking about the spiritual parts of who we are — he’s calling for the surrender of everything. In our evening prayer and devotional, reflect on the fact that our physical bodies, our thoughts, emotions, words, relationships, and actions — all of it belongs to God. Robert Hampshire reminds us that the Christian life is meant to be holistic. God doesn’t just want our worship on Sundays or our prayers in quiet moments — He desires every part of our lives to reflect His mercy and grace. Anything less, as James describes, becomes “double-minded,” divided between God and the world. Paul’s phrase “living sacrifice” is striking because it implies constancy — a daily, ongoing surrender. The challenge, as one pastor put it, is that “the hardest part of a living sacrifice is that it keeps crawling off the altar.” We continually offer ourselves back to God, not as a way to earn His favor, but as a response to His mercy. Mercy means we don’t receive the judgment we deserve. Every day, we live under the covering of God’s compassion. Our response to that mercy should be gratitude — a wholehearted offering of ourselves in worship. We don’t live surrendered lives to get God’s mercy; we live surrendered lives because we already have it. When we choose this posture of worship, God sees our offering as holy and pleasing. We discover that true worship isn’t confined to music or church services — it’s lived out moment by moment, in grateful response to His mercy. TONIGHT’S SCRIPTURE “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.” — Romans 12:1 (ESV) MAIN TAKEAWAYS God desires every part of us — mind, body, emotions, and actions — as an offering of worship. A “living sacrifice” means daily, consistent surrender, not a one-time act. We don’t earn God’s mercy; we respond to it with gratitude and devotion. True worship flows from a heart that recognizes the depth of God’s grace. Surrender leads to holiness, acceptance, and a deeper experience of spiritual worship. A Prayer When You Need God to Lead You to Rest | Your Daily Prayer

Heavenly Father, I confess that I’ve been running on empty, chasing productivity instead of Your peace. Forgive me for trying to do everything in my own strength. Thank You for being my Good Shepherd who gently leads me to places of rest. Help me to slow down, to trust You enough to stop striving, and to receive the restoration my soul longs for. Teach me that my worth is not in what I accomplish, but in who I am in You. May I live, lead, and love from a heart refreshed by Your presence. Thank You that rest is Your gift — not something I have to earn. I choose to receive it today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Jason Bateman Gets Grilled by His Daughter—and He Tries to Keep It Together

Jason Bateman gets grilled by his daughter, and he tries to keep it together. The popular Hollywood actor was asked a series of tough questions by his little girl, putting him on the spot, and he struggled to come up with answers for her. Watch the short but hysterical clip to hear what she wanted to know and how Jason responded in the moment.

Children are undoubtedly the greatest and most precious blessing anyone can experience on this Earth. There is simply nothing that compares to being a mother or a father. Those are the single most important titles and positions that you’ll ever receive. The only thing any parent could ever hope or ask for is more time with their youngsters, because every second is precious and invaluable.

Yes, children are wonderful and add an immense amount of happiness and joy to your life. However, parenting is also the toughest thing you’ll ever do. They’ll test your patience, get on your nerves and momentarily forget how to listen to you – oh, the wonders of being a parent! However, one of the most challenging aspects of being a parent is when they ask you tough questions and demand immediate answers.

In a clip posted on YouTube, Jason explains how he found himself put in such a situation when his 11-year-old daughter started asking him straightforward but tough questions. She had things on her mind and wanted to hear the truth from her father.

“So, we’re going, we’re packed,” he said. “So, we’re in the back of the car and we’re going to the airport. It was Easter weekend – It was Easter Sunday, so this is Monday. We’re going to the airport, I said, ‘Honey, wasn’t that great? You got a lot of eggs. You did a really good job.’ She says, ‘Yeah, I did OK on the eggs, but, Daddy, bunnies don’t lay eggs, right? And I’m, like, ‘That’s true.’ The Easter Egg Bunny, not real, right?’

His daughter had sneaking suspicions that the Easter Bunny was not real and needed her dad to confirm it for her. She then moved on to the Tooth Fairy, and to put him in an even more uncomfortable, awkward position, she asked about Santa Claus. Unsure of how to respond to his daughter’s direct, rapid-fire questioning, Jason reached out to his wife for some help.

Ephesians 6:4 “And, you fathers, do not make your children angry: but give them training in the teaching and fear of the Lord.”

A Prayer When God Feels Far Away | Your Daily Prayer

There are days, O Lord, when I feel so alone — when my prayers seem to echo and my faith feels faint. In those moments, remind me that You have never left. Thank You for Jesus, who experienced separation so that I never would. Help me to rest in the truth that You are with me, even when I can’t feel You near. Strengthen my faith, calm my anxious heart, and draw me close to You once again. Even in silence, help me to trust that You are speaking. Even in darkness, help me to remember that You are light. Thank You for Your unfailing presence and love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Contentment in a Culture of More | Your Nightly Prayer

Heavenly Father, True wealth isn’t measured by money but by knowing You. Teach me godliness with contentment, and help me rest in Your love and provision. Guard my heart from chasing the false promises of riches, and remind me daily that You are my greatest treasure. Fill me with gratitude for the eternal gifts You’ve given — faith, family, salvation, and Your unfailing presence. Let my life reflect the riches of Your Kingdom. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

A Prayer for Light as Darker Months Approach | Your Daily Prayer

Dear God, As the darker months approach, help me to see Your light clearly. When my spirit feels heavy and my heart begins to ache, remind me that You are the Light of the World and that no darkness can overcome You. Shine brightly into my heart, Lord. Replace my fear and sadness with Your peace. When the days feel long and gray, help me find joy in Your presence and hope in Your promises. Thank You for being faithful in every season. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Thankful for Small, Overlooked Gifts | Your Nightly Prayer

Gratitude is a practice — one that requires slowing down and intentionally noticing God’s presence in both the big and small moments of life. In our nightly prayer and devotional, we reflect on the fact that while we often thank God for obvious blessings — our families, jobs, or church communities — we can easily overlook the quiet, everyday gifts that reveal His goodness just as powerfully. Angie Grant shares how keeping a gratitude journal by her bedside has helped her cultivate awareness of God’s faithfulness. Each night, she recounts small but meaningful moments: her grandchildren’s laughter, a walk to the mailbox, or a sunset after a long day. These may seem simple, but they are reminders that God’s hand is always at work, painting beauty into the ordinary. James 1:17 reminds us that every good and perfect gift comes from God — not just the big, life-changing blessings, but also the gentle reminders of His nearness woven into our daily routines. When we pause long enough to notice, our perspective shifts. The rush slows. Our hearts quiet. We begin to see God’s fingerprints on everything. Even in hard seasons, when reflection feels more difficult, gratitude helps us reorient our hearts. God never stops being good — even when we struggle to see it. His faithfulness is both grand and intimate, steady and personal. Slowing down to thank Him for the small, overlooked gifts keeps our hearts tender and our spirits rooted in His presence. TONIGHT’S SCRIPTURE “Every good and perfect gift is from above.” — James 1:17 MAIN TAKEAWAYS Gratitude must be practiced with intention, not reserved for the obvious blessings. Every good thing — big or small — comes from God’s generous hand. Slowing down helps us recognize how God is actively at work in our everyday lives. Gratitude realigns our focus and helps us experience peace and joy in every season. God’s faithfulness is constant; He reveals His goodness in countless daily ways. SCRIPTURE REFERENCES James 1:17 YOUR EVENING PRAYER Jesus, Thank You for all the ways You’ve been at work in my life today. Thank You for the quiet blessings — the ones I might have overlooked. Help me slow down long enough to recognize Your hand in every detail and to cherish Your goodness in both the big and small things. May gratitude fill my heart and shape my words tonight as I rest in Your unchanging faithfulness. In Jesus’ name, Amen. THREE THINGS TO MEDITATE UPON Where did I see God’s fingerprints today? Reflect on the moments where His presence was quietly evident. How can I slow down and be more intentional about noticing God’s goodness, even in difficult seasons? Consider starting or revisiting a gratitude journal. How might God want to use me to be part of someone else’s moment of gratitude? Look for opportunities to be a blessing in someone’s ordinary day.
